 Manipur literally meaning "A jeweled land" nestle deep within a lush green corner of North East India. It seems much like an exquisite  work of  art  executed by  superb hands of  Nature and  is indeed a state of exquisite natural  beauty  and splendors,  the beauty of which once inspired Mrs. St. Clair Grimwood described it as " A Pretty Place more beautiful than many show places of the world" Late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru paid a fitting tribute by describing it as "Jewel of India".
Night View of Imphal City

Surrounded by blue hills  with an  oval shaped valley at the centre, rich in art and tradition  and surcharged  with  nature's  pristine  glory. Manipur  lies on a melting pot of culture. It is birth place of Polo. This is the place  where Rajashree  Bhagyachandra  created the  famous Ras Lila, the classical dance of Manipur, out of his enchanting dream by the grace of Lord Krishna.

Her folk dances reveal the mythological concept of creation of Manipur.

Having a  varied and proud history  from the  earliest  times,  Manipur  came under the British Rule as a Princely State after the defeat in the Anglo-Manipuri  War of  1891. After  independence of  India in  1947,  the Princely State of Manipur was merged in the Indian Union on October 15,1949 and became a full-fledged State of India on the 21th January, 1972 with a Legislative Assembly of 60 seats of which 20  are  reserved  for  Scheduled Tribe and 1 reserved for  Scheduled  Caste.  The State is represented in the Lok Sabha by two members and by one member in the Rajya Sabha.

Hot New African Mango Diet has Reporter Losing it! (pounds that is...)

By: Jennifer Theuriau | Feb 23rd 2011

African Mangos are the latest weight loss fad. These so called super foods taken as a dietary supplement for enhanced weight loss have been receiving a lot of international media attention. And like you have probably already seen, accounts of the berry are all over the Internet in blogs and success stories of people who have used the berry in pill form and lost a ton of weight.
But we here at Channel 8 are a little skeptical and weren't sure that we've seen any real proof that these pills work for weight loss. So we decided to put these products to the test. What better way to find out the truth than to conduct our own study?
To get started, I volunteered to be the guinea pig. I applied to receive a bottle of Advanced African Mango. While there are tons of African Mangos berry ads online, Advanced African Mango is one of the most credible and trustworthy suppliers on the market. It included a free trial of the product and it did not have any confusing fine print.
Another reason why I chose is because it is the most concentrated and purest African Mangos product on the market. This would give me the most accurate results for my test.
I honestly felt fantastic. This stuff is amazing! /July 30, 2011/Riyaj Shah

5 New English Words

Language is alive and forever changing. Approximately 25,000 new words are introduced into English on an annual basis, and, in an attempt to keep you with a finger on the linguistic pulse, so to speak, and in the spirit of doing something a little different, here's a list of my five favourite 'new' words to the language. Enjoy!
1. A Nonversation a conversation that seems meaningless or ridiculous.
2. An E-Quaintance a person who you only 'know' through online networking.
3. To Gaslight (verb) to drive someone crazy by making them doubt their memory or perceptions.
4. Drizzmal (adjective) a description of rainy weather that causes melancholy.
5. A Cyberchondriac one who imagines that he is ill, having just read about the symptoms on the Internet!
Example:
1. A Nonversation a conversation that seems meaningless or ridiculous:
"I had a nonversation with a stranger while we were both waiting for the bus."
2. An E-Quaintance a person who you only 'know' through online networking:"She's an e-quaintance, we chat alot inline, but I have no idea what she looks like - we've never actually met."

3. To Gaslight (verb) to drive someone crazy by making them doubt their memory or perceptions."I keep hiding her keys from her. She doesn't know I'm doing it, she thinks she's becoming forgetful. I'm just gaslighting her for fun."
4. Drizzmal (adjective) a description of rainy weather that causes melancholy:
"A week of rain is making us all feel a little drizzmal."
5. A Cyberchondriac one who imagines that he is ill, having just read about the symptoms on the Internet!:
"Stop looking at medical websites! You're becoming a cyberchondriac - you think you have every disease you read about!"

This lesson is just a bit of fun. Because these words are new, they aren't necessarily widely used by English speakers yet.

Give from your Heart

""My dear ALLAH when I loose hope, Help me to remember that, your love is greater than my disappointments & your plans For my life are better than my dreams.""

One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry.

He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water.She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk.He drank it slowly, and then asked, "How much do I owe you?""You don't owe me anything," she replied."Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness." He said "Then I thank you from my heart."As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.Years later that young woman became critically ill.

The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes.Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room. Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life.

From that day he gave special attention to the case. After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval.He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all.

Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill.She read these words . . . "Paid in full with one glass of milk" (Signed) Dr.Howard Kelly.Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: "Thank You, God, that Your love has spread abroad through human hearts and hands.

"Now you have two choices. You can send this page on and spread a positive message or ignore it and pretend it never touched your heart ..

Using Facebook to market your product or brand !!

Create A Facebook Page !!!

Social networking has recently become a strong force for marketing and advertising a product. People almost always go online, read reviews and check out social responses to any item they are going to buy, and not just big ticket items. Often if a person is considering changing brands, even on something like cookies, they will see what others have to say about it first. This is why when you are trying to get new customers in an affordable manner; you can't ignore the force that is social networking.

One of the best things you can do for yourself is create a Facebook Page. This is meant strictly as a fan page that does little other than say who you are, and provide a link to your website. However, it is a powerful tool. How? Well, first let's talk about cost. A Facebook Fan Page is FREE. You do not pay anything for it. There are no service charges, there are no monthly fees. You get it for free. Second, let's talk about its reach. Facebook has millions of members, so you are not just exposing yourself to a few people who read the classifieds, or those watching television during the time slot you purchased, you have the potential to reach any and everyone who gets online. Of course to do that takes some work, but the potential is there.

We think Holzner's Facebook Marketing offers excellent, easy to follow insights on making Facebook part of your game-plan. The great thing about creating a Facebook Fan Page is that you likely already have some kind of following, or friend base set up, so you can send the "Become a Fan" request out to everyone on your list, and hope that they continue to send the request out. Once people become a fan, anytime you post something to the page, they will see it on their homepage. In other words, if you are having a sale, then post something about it on your Facebook fan page, and anyone who has become a fan will see that you have a sale. Free advertising. It takes a matter of seconds for someone to become a fan, and to opt out takes a bit more time, which means that most people will become a fan, and stay a fan.

Social media tools, such as Facebook are used frequently, and by all types of people: the wealthy and the poor, the old and the young, the working professional and the full-time student. No matter what your target market is, you will find that demographic on Facebook. You have nothing to lose by creating a Facebook Fan Page. It takes only a few minutes to set up, and requires no special software, etc. It is all included, you post something, notification is sent automatically. It is easy to use, has a long reach, and can ramp up your customer base with no cost to you. Just be sure to include a link to your website, a physical address (if you have one), and any pertinent information for how to become a customer so that you do not get exposure without any follow through.

 Facebook doesn't need much introduction. It will suffice to say that it is far reaching, easy to use and a free part of your marketing strategy. If you really want an edge look into our links below.

Manipur youth want a militancy free education zone

Living under the shadow of guns, blasts, extortion, and violence is difficult and studying in such an environment even more so. No surprise then that students in Manipur want education to be a militancy free zone.

This is because militants have been threatening these institutions and causing problems in their functioning.

Grenade attacks on educational institutions are common and teachers often receive threatening notes. Blasts, blockades, shutdowns and strikes have ensured that schools remain closed for days.

"The situation here affects students studies. Students are supposed to complete their  syllabus within one year but they are unable to do so because of boycotts, strikes, and shutdowns. They cannot study in peace. Student bodies and senior citizens of the state had attended the protest meeting and took out a rally, demanding that education should be freed from disturbances and corruption.

Several resolutions were adopted during the meeting. One of them is a demand for exempting schools and colleges from purview of any shutdown or strike. Militancy is one of the main problems for the students. Militants demand money from their family or kidnap people creating tension for the students. They do not let them study peacefully, so these students want a free education zone," said N Chaoba Singh, President, All Manipur Students' Guardian Organization

"We face many problems so today we are demanding that we should get proper and peaceful education. There are many reasons why we cannot study properly and that may affect our future," said Priyanda, another student.

This is the main reason I left Manipur since two years ago for my higher study. I hate "Grenade Cultures". "It is my appeal that these things should not happen again. What everybody wants, be it NGOs, civil societies, media, civilians or the government is that this should not happen again. What has happened is really bad." Manipuris are increasingly vocalizing their anger against militancy, as they want peace and development. So do as I.

Some More Useful English Tips

Hi....

 I was watching TV today and I noticed a common phrase that I guess you didn't learn in school.  I wrote it down because I wanted to remember to teach it to you.  I think it's really useful.  So many schools teach old stuff but I really want to teach the popular kind of English that you can actually use with native English speakers.  Here it is below:

Sleep on it:

In spoken English, if someone tells their friend to, "sleep on it", it means that they should really think carefully before making a decision.  This is used when someone has a big and important decision in life to make.  The idea is that you should go to sleep and make a final decision the next day so you don't make an emotional decision.

Here is an example of how to use this:

Rina:  I'm thinking about buying a new Ipad but it's kind of expensive and I'm not really sure if I really need it or not.  Do you think I should get one?

Riyaj:  I think you should sleep on it.  If you still want one tomorrow morning then just buy it.

I hope to see you on my Facebbok

Classroom participation strategies ....

How to participate in an interactive class:

In many of your classes, especially seminars and tutorials, you will be expected not just to listen to your lecturer
or tutor, but to do quite a lot of talking as well. You need to be ready to:
• answer questions from the teacher;
• answer questions from other students;
• put questions to the teacher and/or to other students;
• make comments and give your own opinion:
• about what the teacher says,
• about reading for the class,
• about comments the other students make;
• summarize a discussion or an argument;
• report to the whole class on a small-group discussion.
Often a class will be divided into small groups to make the discussion easier, but sometimes you will be
expected to speak in front of the whole class.
In some classes you will earn marks for taking an active part in class discussions – or, put another way, in some
classes you may get less marks if you do not actively participate.

Why have in-class discussions at all?

In Australian universities lecturers and tutors encourage active participation by their students because:
• they believe that by discussing, sharing and comparing their ideas and understandings in class, students
can:
• deepen their own understanding of what they are learning, and
• learn from each other, as well as from the teacher and the textbooks;
• it helps them to know if:
• the students understand what is being taught, or if
• they need further explanation or other help.

Some students worry about making grammatical errors in their speech; they don't want to express their ideas
unless they are confident that they can do so without making mistakes.
Remember, nobody's English is perfect – not even your lecturer's (true!). The more interesting the content of
what you have to say, the less people will worry about the way you say it.

A Proposal letter from Mr. Leung Cheung to me (Riyaj Shah)

Dear Riyaj,

Thank you for considering my proposal. Let me formally introduce myself to you. I am Mr. LEUNG Cheung, Executive Director and Head of Personal Banking, Hang Seng Bank Limited.

I contacted you concerning an abandoned sum of $22,500,000.00 U.S Dollars. In June 2001, A customer called Aziz Musa Numan came to our bank for business discussions and investment, As the officer in charge of his transaction, I encouraged him to consider various growth of funds with prime ratings. Then he invested Nineteen Million Five Hundred Thousand United State Dollars only. Based on my advice, we were able to spin the initial deposit with profit and interest to 22.5 million U.S Dollars.

After few months; my bank (Hang Seng) sent several notice to him, even during the war between U.S and Iraqi. Again after the war another notification was sent but still no response came from him. After series of investigation, I got information that Aziz Musa Numan and his family had been killed during the war in a bomb blast that hit his home at Mukaradeeb. Because of the sensitive nature of private banking, most customers don't nominate next of kin in their investment, also usually in most cases leave their WILLS in our care, in this case; our now deceased client died in-testate.
It is quite clear now that our dear client died with no known or identifiable family member. According to practice, the Private banking sector will by the end of this year broadcast a request for statement of claim to Hang Seng Bank Ltd, failing to receive viable claims they will probably revert the deposit to the Management of Hang Seng Bank Ltd. This will result the money entering the Hang Seng accounting system and the portfolio will be out of my hands and out of the private banking division. What bothers me most is that according to the laws of my country at the expiration of Ten {10} years the funds will revert to the ownership of the Hong Kong Government if nobody applies to claim the funds.

Now, I am prepared to give the necessary details to you as the closest surviving relation of our deceased customer (Aziz Musa Numan). I am also proposing that after a successful execution of the business deal, the funds will be shared in the ratio 40/60. You will get 40% and I will be entitled to 60% as the initiator of the deal. You know that I must have done my home work already before contacting you. Although the project is capital intensive, I know I will be able to pull it through following proper banking and legal channels with your assistance at your end. I will tidy up the legal aspect with the assistance of a lawyer who will prepare all the documents that will be needed to transfer the money from Hong Kong to your country. Once more, I ask that if you find no interest in this project that you should discard this mail and forget I ever contacted you, I ask that you do not be vindictive and destructive; do not destroy my career. Opportunities like this only comes once in a lifetime. I am a family man and this is an opportunity for me to give my family the best in life. I would want you to think about this and let me know if your decision. If you give me positive response, I will give you the relevant INFORMATION for the successful transfer of these funds and we both enjoy it in peace.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<oooooooooooooooooooo>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Mr. LEUNG Cheung is currently working as  an Executive Director and Head of Personal Banking, Hang Seng Bank Limited.

This is a great opportunity offer to me although I'm in a horn of dilemma to take my decision. I'm looking for help or any suggestions  from the readers whoever visited this blog.

I await a valid suggestion on this blog !!!!!!

More Indian students opting for Australia

Amazing !!
After two years of tumbling fortunes, the tide seems to be turning in favour of Australian universities, as more and more Indian students are opting to study Down Under.

The Australian immigration department has recorded a 21% rise in student visa applications from India in the first six months this year.

Over 3,700 Indian students have applied forAustralian visa in 2011, The Age reported.

Education providers down under experienced troubled times after Indian students dumped Australia following a spate of assaults on South Asian students in Melbourne and Sydney.

Aggressive coverage by Indian media pushed even bilateral relations, besides student enrolments, into a downward spiral.

Matters turned worse for Australian universities and vocational colleges, as plummeting numbers coincided with the Australian government making immigration laws more stringent.

With Australia once again relaxing the visa regulations from April 1 this year and a significant drop in assaults on international students, more and more Indian students are anticipated to opt for Australia.

"The number of student visa applications is rebounding, that category is up significantly," the newspaper quoted Peter Speldewinde, assistant secretary in the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, as saying.

"People are generally positive about Australia," said Speldewinde, adding: "The student issue has come up from time to time, but no one's really pushed it very hard."

The Australian government is reportedly advertising in Indian media to attract Indian professionals to settle in Australia.

India is the third-largest provider of permanent skilled migrants to Australia. Over 15,000 Indians decided to make Australia their home last fiscal. Only China and Britain provide more skilled migrants to the Australian economy.
